§ 01 — About the role

What you'd do.

You would join a two-person residential cleaning crew. Most days, you and a crewmate take a route of 3-4 homes: standard recurring cleans, deep cleans, and occasional move-outs. Crews stick together, so the people and neighborhoods get familiar.

We do not do gig work. Every cleaner is a W-2 employee with consistent hours and the same pay rate whether you are cleaning a studio or a 4-bedroom.

This is a hands-on role. Expect to be on your feet, lifting up to 40 lbs occasionally, climbing step stools, and moving through homes for 6-8 hours a day.

§ 02 — Responsibilities

The day-to-day.

  • Perform residential cleans following our standard punch list: vacuum, mop, dust, kitchen, bathrooms, trash, and beds.
  • Run deep cleans when scheduled: inside oven, inside fridge, baseboards, blinds, and vents.
  • Communicate with clients by text at start and finish of each job, with a walk-through if they are home.
  • Document the work in our crew app with start and finish times, completed checklist, and notes for the next visit.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment including vacuums, mop heads, microfibers, and truck restock between jobs.
  • Flag issues such as damage you find, inaccessible areas, or anything outside scope that needs follow-up.
  • Drive between jobs in your own vehicle with mileage reimbursement, or in a company van after the full-time ramp.
§ 03 — What you bring

Requirements.

Required:

  • 1+ years of cleaning experience in residential, commercial, hospitality, or healthcare housekeeping
  • Valid driver license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a national background check
  • Physical ability to lift 40 lbs, stand for 6+ hours, and climb stairs or step stools
  • Working English or Spanish; we have bilingual crews and either works
  • Smartphone capable of using the crew app

Nice to have, not required:

  • Move-out or post-construction cleaning experience
  • Pet familiarity; most homes have a dog or cat
  • Bilingual English and Spanish
  • Customer service or hospitality background
§ 04 — What we offer

The full package.

  • Pay: $22-28/hr to start, reviewed at 90 days, 1 year, then annually. Top of range is reachable, not theoretical.
  • Health, dental, vision with Otesse paying 80% of premium after 60 days. Spouse and dependent coverage available.
  • 401(k) with 4% match after 90 days. Vested immediately, with Roth or traditional options.
  • 10 days PTO year one 15 days year two, 20 days year three, plus separate Oregon sick time.
  • 7 paid holidays including the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.
  • Mileage reimbursed at the federal rate when using your own vehicle.
  • Two paid weeks of onboarding so you get paid to learn the system before independent route work.
  • Annual training budget for certifications like carpet care, hazmat, or restoration when you want to grow.
  • No weekend requirement with optional Saturday shifts at premium pay and rare Sundays paid higher.

Common questions.

Q. Is this a 1099 or W-2 position?

W-2. Always. We do not use 1099 cleaners. Payroll runs weekly, taxes are withheld, and you get a real paycheck.

Q. Do I need to provide my own supplies?

No. Otesse provides supplies, equipment, vacuums, and uniforms. You bring yourself and your vehicle until you are on a company van rotation.

Q. How does scheduling work?

You set your weekly availability. We build routes around that, and once your week is set it is locked. No surprise last-minute additions unless you opt in.

Q. Do I work alone or with a partner?

With a partner. Two-person crews are the standard. New hires pair with a senior cleaner for the first 60 days.

Q. Is there room to grow?

Yes. Team leads come from the cleaner bench, with promotions based on tenure, customer feedback, quality, and willingness to lead.

Q. What does the hiring process look like?

Application, phone screen, paid working interview, then offer. It usually takes 7-10 days from application to decision.

Q. When does the role start?

Target start is June 2026, with 2-3 weeks of flexibility depending on your availability.
