What a gas unit does well

Gas machines exist for area and for stubborn material.

The other honest downside is that the extra power gets used carelessly. Most exterior damage -- furred deck boards, striped concrete, water behind siding -- happens with a gas machine in the hands of someone who assumed more pressure was better.

Which one fits your jobs

Choose electric if your list is patios, furniture, vehicles, bins, fencing, a modest walkway, and washing siding a couple of times a year. Also choose electric if storage is indoors, if noise matters, or if you will use the machine rarely enough that a carburetor sitting idle would become the main problem.

Choose gas if you have a long driveway or a large area of concrete, you do this work several times a season, you need to reach past cord distance, or you plan to run a surface cleaner attachment that needs real flow.
