§ 01 — How we hire

Four stages.
Real timing.

No black-box hiring. No 8-stage gauntlet for an hourly job. No unpaid working interviews. We respond to every applicant within 5 business days.

§ 02 — Why we do it this way

A hiring process that takes more time to apply for than the job is worth in a week's pay is a process designed for the company, not the candidate.

Mark Chen, Operations Lead

The short version.

Step 1: Apply, 15 minutes. Online form. No cover letter.

Step 2: Phone screen, 20 minutes. A conversation, not a quiz.

Step 3: Working interview, paid in full. You join a crew for a real day.

Step 4: Offer or honest no. Usually within 10 days of applying.

What you'll do.

Fill out the multi-step form on the role you want. We ask about contact info, work history, availability, and a few situational questions. No cover letter required.

What we look at.

  • Relevant experience: hospitality, housekeeping, retail back-of-house, and food service all count.
  • Schedule fit: if our schedule and yours cannot overlap, that is an honest mismatch.
  • Location: most roles are in-person in Hillsboro/Beaverton, so mileage from your ZIP matters.
  • Care in the application: not perfection, just enough signal that the answers match the questions.

What happens after.

You get a confirmation email within minutes. A real human reviews within 2-3 business days, and you hear yes or no within 5 business days.

Candidate promise

We do not use AI resume screeners, reject for employment gaps, or disqualify for background-check items unless they are directly relevant to the role.

What this is.

A 20-minute conversation scheduled by text on a slot you pick. It is a real two-way conversation, not a structured interview script.

What we talk about.

  • Your work history in your own words: what you liked, what you did not, why you left.
  • What you are looking for in schedule, pay, and the kind of job worth keeping.
  • Transportation, start date, availability, and logistics for the working interview.
  • Your questions for us. Ask anything about pay, benefits, customers, or the crew.

How to prepare.

Pick a quiet 20 minutes. If you have questions about pay, benefits, schedule, or the working interview, write them down so you do not forget.

Candidate promise

Before the call ends, we tell you whether we are moving you to the working interview. If no, we explain why.

What this is.

One shift with an experienced two-person crew on a normal route, typically 3-4 homes between 8am and 4pm. You are paid your full proposed hourly rate regardless of the outcome.

What we evaluate.

  • Communication: asking questions, flagging issues, and reading the room.
  • Pace: sustainable rhythm, not raw speed.
  • Attention to detail: corners, baseboards, and the parts no one will check.
  • Customer interaction: brief greeting, walkthrough, and calm judgment.
  • Whether you would want to do this again tomorrow. Honest answers are the right answers.

What to bring.

  • Comfortable closed-toe shoes, ideally non-slip.
  • Stretchy pants or work pants.
  • A water bottle.
  • Reliable transportation to the first job site.
Candidate promise

Some companies use unpaid trial shifts. We do not. The working interview is W-2 paid time from start to finish.

If it's a yes.

  • Written offer letter with pay rate, start date, and benefits summary.
  • Initial schedule for your first two weeks of onboarding.
  • Five business days to accept, counter, or decline.

If it's a no.

You get a phone call, not just an email. We tell you why, what we saw, and whether we would consider you for a different role or future opening.

What stays true.

The schedule, pay, and benefits in the offer match what we talked about earlier. No bait-and-switch after you have invested time.

Candidate promise

If you make it to a working interview, you hear a decision from a human voice. That is a promise.

§ 03 — Principles

Seven rules we hold ourselves to.

Rule 01

Pay for time.

Working interviews are paid at the proposed hourly rate. Travel for in-person interviews is reimbursed for mileage.

Rule 02

Respond to everyone.

Every applicant hears yes or no within 5 business days of submission. No ghosting.

Rule 03

Tell the truth.

Reasons for no are specific and honest. Going a different direction is not the explanation we give.

Rule 04

Do not waste your time.

Four stages, max. No personality assessment. No long take-home assignment for an hourly role.

Rule 05

No surprise expectations.

Schedule, pay, and benefits in the offer are exactly what we said they would be when you applied.

Rule 06

Background checks, late.

Background checks happen after the offer, not before the application.

Rule 07

Equal consideration.

We consider applicants without regard to protected status, and we adapt the process for reasonable accommodation requests.

§ 04 — Ready

See an open role
and apply.
