Where a Wet Vacuum Is Genuinely the Right Tool

What a Wet Vacuum Cannot Reach

The pad. A shop vacuum recovers a meaningful amount of water from the carpet and only a modest amount from the cushion underneath, because the carpet's backing restricts flow.

That is why a genuinely soaked floor is a different job. Professionals use weighted extraction tools that press down while pulling, or pull the carpet back and dry the pad and subfloor directly.
