The method, step by step

- Work from the back. Lay the fabric face down on a stack of clean white paper towels or an old white cloth. You want the ink to travel out of the fabric and into the pad, not further into it.
- Apply to a cloth, not to the garment. Dampen a clean white cloth with alcohol and press it against the back of the stain.
- Blot, never rub. Press, lift, move to a clean section of cloth, press again. Rubbing spreads the ink sideways and abrades the fibers.
